What is it?

The Entertainment Quiz of the Year is one of Action for Children’s high value events. Now in its fourth year, this event offers guests the chance to enjoy a sparkling reception and a three-course gourmet dinner as well as taking part in fundraising activities such as a silent auction, a raffle and an interactive fundraising game. While all this is going on, teams compete in a general knowledge quiz to win the EQY trophy.

When is it?

The Entertainment Quiz of the Year is taking place on Wednesday 25th September 2019. Guests will be arriving at 6:30pm, however, we ask volunteers to arrive at 5pm to help us set up.

Where is it?

The event is taking place at Plaisterers' Hall, 1 London Wall, Barbican, London, EC2Y 5JU.

Who will be there?

This event brings together guests from the entertainment industry as well as large corporate companies. Tables confirmed so far include NBC Universal, British Association for Screen Entertainment, Google, Lionsgate, Motion Picture Solutions Ltd, Sony DADC and Way to Blue.

What should I wear?

We ask our volunteers to dress smart for this one – and black is preferable.

What will I be asked to do?

You will be the face of Action for Children, representing the charity in front of the guests, answering any questions they may have and encouraging them to fundraise where possible. Typical roles for this event include ushering, table hosting, payment taking and quiz running. We also ask a few volunteers to look after our finance desk on the night – but we will let you know if this is you!

Will there be instructions?

Yes – we won’t just let you wing it! You will be given a full written and verbal briefing and will have the chance to ask any questions you may have before the event starts. There will also be smaller ‘huddles’ at various stages throughout the event to explain your roles at specific times.

How many other volunteers will there be?

For this event, we will have around 20 volunteers.
