The competitive nature of the market for foster carers

Posted by / Friday 05 August 2016 /

In response to today’s statement from The Association of Directors of Children's Services (ADCS) on the competitive nature of the market for foster carers:

"Government must urgently address the shortage of foster carers and provide adequate funding for this vital service. Additional carers for children who need therapeutic and specialist support are required across the country as a priority. The ‘stock take’ of fostering announced by the government recently is an opportunity for those of us providing foster care to discuss whether or not the market and the frameworks used by local authorities can deliver – and support – enough safe, nurturing and stable placements for children and young people, while also providing value for money."
