Julie Bentley, Action for Children CEO

Julie joined Action for Children in August 2018.

Julie came to us from Girlguiding, the largest charity for girls and young women in the UK, working with 400k girls and young women aged 5 to 25, where she was CEO for six years. Prior to that she was CEO for five years at FPA (Family Planning Association) a sexual health charity and was also CEO at The Suzy Lamplugh Trust, a personal safety charity, for four years. Prior to becoming a CEO, Julie was a director working for organisations supporting people with drugs and alcohol addiction and started her career as a youth worker, training in Essex where she ran a range of youth provision before taking up a post in London setting up and running a young people’s drugs project in south east London in the early 90s.

Julie is passionate about social justice and equality of opportunity and spent six years as a trustee of the housing and homelessness charity Shelter.
